About Us
We are Jane and Richard Ray, and we warmly welcome you to our part of paradise.
Living in the Marlborough Sounds has long been our dream, and in 2021 we were fortunate to make it a reality. Although both born and raised in New Zealand, we have spent many years living in different parts of the world. Between us, we have sailed more than 60,000 ocean miles, working and exploring in many of the world's tropical hotspots. Yet for us, the very best has always been right here on our doorstep.
Having worked in tourism for most of our lives, we truly enjoy meeting people from around the world. We live on the property adjacent to Portobello Bach Double Cove, so we are available should you need assistance. At the same time, we understand that many guests come here seeking seclusion, and we respect your privacy so you can fully enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Getting Here
Portobello Bach Double Cove is less than fifteen minutes by boat from Picton.
Several water taxi operators run from Picton. We recommend Beachcomber Cruises, who can work to your schedule and bring you directly to our dock. When booking, simply provide Jetty Number Q5184.
Car parking is available adjacent to the marina in Picton at reasonable daily rates.
If you have your own boat, it is a short trip from the launching ramps at Picton or Waikawa. Double Cove is well protected from prevailing winds, and you may moor your boat at the dock for the duration of your stay.
